how to purchase

The General Store Online has been designed for quick reference and purchasing of presents for those who can't make it into The General Store.

Please be assured we take security and privacy seriously.

There are 3 ways you can make a purchase without coming into the store.


You can browse around our site just like you would instore – you won't need to log-on while you are browsing. When you find an object you like, you can add this to your cart and enter a quantity if you need more than one.

When you have finished browsing and filling your cart, look for the ‘check out' button, click here to proceed to the confirmation and pay area. It's like a virtual supermarket, just imagine you are at the counter.

You will be asked to log-in during this process. This gives your details for shipping, billing and contact in case we need to check something with you. Along the way you will be given options to check and change anything you have entered.

The final part is payment. You will be transferred a page that asks for your card number. You will notice at the bottom of your screen there is a symbol that looks like a lock. This is assuring you that you are in an encrypted area and has extra security attached to it.

Your purchase receipt will be emailed to you.

We can answer any questions you may have and also take your order via email.

For security reasons please do not include your credit card number in any emails to us.

We will email our bank account number for you to make a payment online or at a bank branch near you.

We will confirm all pricing and details with you. If you are outside of New Zealand we will need to email you back with shipping confirmation.


Within NZ

Your order will be sent via signed courier.

A flat rate of $8 is charged for all orders. Promotions running may change this from time to time. Delivery will take approx 3-5 working days to reach you.

If you live at a rural address or have a PO Box you will need to arrange for someone in town to receive your parcel.

Signing for the parcel means you have received the parcel in good order. ie packaging not broken, no rattle sounds coming from within!

If you are unsure of the condition, it's okay to sign your name and 'T.B.I' which means 'to be Inspected'. In doing so it enables any claim for replacement due to damage.

All our products are chosen and handled with care. If in the unlikely event of goods being damaged in transit, please advise us within 3 days of receiving the order.


We offer a non tracked service through NZ Post. Choose a safe address for delivery as it isn't signed received. Check our returns policy. Please allow plenty of time for unforeseen delays.

Recipients are responsible for any customs duties or taxes in that country.
